The Essentials

  • Graham cracker pie crusts : This recipe requires 2 store-bought 9-inch graham cracker pie crusts. You could also use a homemade pie crust, but for an easy and quick version, we recommend sticking to the store-bought crust.

  • Instant coffee granules : This ingredient gives the pie its signature coffee flavor. Use 1 tablespoon of instant coffee granules to make a strong and bold flavored pie.

  • Granulated sugar : Adding sugar makes the pie sweet and balances out the bitterness from the coffee granules. You will need 1/4 cup of granulated sugar for the filling of the pie.

  • Evaporated milk : Evaporated milk has a richer consistency than regular milk due to being cooked down to about half its original volume. It adds an extra layer of flavor to the frappuccino filling. Make sure you use 1 can (12 oz) of evaporated milk.

  • Heavy cream : Heavy cream helps to enhance the texture and richness of the filling. You will need 3/4 cup of heavy cream for this recipe.

  • Miniature marshmallows : The miniature marshmallows are melted with heavy cream and instant coffee granules to make the filling smooth and creamy. They also add a nice touch of sweetness that compliments well with the mocha flavor. Use 2 cups (16 oz bag) of miniature marshmallows in this recipe.

For The Mocha Frappuccino Filling

  • Whipped cream : Whipped cream is essential to give an ethereal taste to your mocha frappuccino filling. Even though it’s optional, we highly recommend using it for a nicer texture.

  • Cool Whip : Cool whip brings sweetness and lightness that enhances this dessert’s overall experience. Use 1 container (8 oz) of Cool Whip for the filling recipe.

  • Mocha frappuccino : If you prefer making your mocha frappuccino from scratch, use 3 cups of cold coffee or a homemade mocha frappuccino recipe. Otherwise, use 2 bottles of store-bought pre-made frappuccino.

Other Pie Ingredients

  • Instant chocolate pudding mix : Adding instant chocolate pudding mix to the filling adds a depth of flavor to the pie. You only need 1 packet of instant chocolate pudding mix.

  • Hot fudge and chocolate sauce : Drizzling hot fudge and chocolate sauce over the finished pie gives an aesthetically pleasing look and enhances its flavors.

  • Flour : A tablespoon of flour is required in the filling recipe to thicken the mixture.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Hazelnut: If you’re a fan of hazelnut mocha, add 1/2 cup of hazelnut spread to the filling mixture.

  • Sweetened condensed milk: For a thicker and creamier mocha filling, swap half of the evaporated milk with sweetened condensed milk.

  • Peppermint Mocha: For a festive twist on this recipe, substitute some of the coffee with peppermint extract or add crushed candy canes as toppings.

The Recipe How-To

Who needs a regular old coffee when you can have this delicious Mocha Frappe Pie instead?

Step 1: Make the Mocha Frappuccino

To make the mocha frappuccino, I first combined 1 cup of cold milk, 2 tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 3 cups of coffee ice in a blender. I blended these ingredients on high until everything was well mixed and the consistency was slushy. If you prefer a sweeter mocha, you can add more sugar.

Step 2: Make The Cream Cheese Layer

After making the frappuccino, it’s time to prepare the cream cheese layer. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, I whipped together 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk, and 1/4 cup of heavy cream with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Add Other Ingredients and Finish Pie Assembly

Next, I added 1/4 cup of caramel sauce to the cream cheese mixture and stirred everything together thoroughly. In a large mixing bowl, I then combined the prepared cream cheese mixture, top whipped cream, and miniature marshmallows.

To assemble my mocha frappe pie recipe, I took a graham cracker pie crusts and pour half of the cream cheese mixture onto it. After that, I pour half of the mocha frappuccino on top of the cream cheese layer. Then, I repeat this process by pouring another layer using remaining ingredients on top.

Once finished, everything came together so perfectly that when sliced into bite sizes your taste buds will surely dance with joy!

To make sure your Mocha Frappe Pie comes out perfect every time, here are some tips and tricks to guide you through the process:

First things first, when making the pie filling, use a blender or food processor to mix the ingredients instead of a whisk or hand mixer. This ensures that everything is blended smoothly and evenly.

When making the mocha frappuccino, try using full-fat evaporated milk for a creamier texture. Alternatively, you could also use half-and-half cream if you prefer a less rich flavor.

For those who love chocolate, drizzle some extra chocolate syrup onto the crust before adding the filling for a super indulgent treat. You can also drizzle hot fudge over the top of the pie once it has been chilled.

Don’t forget to let your pie chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving. This will help it set properly and make for easier slicing.

If you’re short on time, you can also make the pie ahead of time and freeze it until ready to serve. Just be sure to thaw it out in the fridge before serving.

For an extra indulgent touch, try sprinkling chopped hazelnuts or mini chocolate chips on top of your whipped cream garnish.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to get creative with different variations and substitutions. Some great ideas include swapping out the instant coffee granules for homemade mocha syrup, using crushed Oreo cookies for the crust, or topping with blended ice cream for an even creamier texture.
