Step 1: Brew the coffee

First thing first! Grab your favorite 2 cups of ground coffee and make strong brewed coffee using cold brew method.

You can also use coffee Baileys vodka, if you’d like to add some extra booze to the mix. It will give a little kick to your Nightcap Iced Coffee. Alternatively, you can brew coffee using espresso or any other brewing methods.

Pour brewed coffee into a container and keep it in the refrigerator to chill.

Step 2: Spiced Sugar

A crucial step to make your Nightcap Iced Coffee recipe stand out is by preparing spiced sugar ahead of time. Just mix together 2 tablespoons of turbinado sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom, and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg in a small bowl.

Not a fan of spice? No big deal! You can always skip this step to create regular sweetened iced coffee.

Step 3: Whipped Cream

No nightcap recipe would be complete without whipped cream! To make whipped cream, take 1 cup of heavy cream, and whip it till stiff peaks form in it using an electric mixer.

If you are really feeling indulgent, add a splash of cognac or Kahlua, it will definitely take the whipped cream to another level.

Step 4: Making Your Nightcap Iced Coffee

Take your chilled brewed coffee out from the refrigerator, give it a quick stir, and pour 1/2 cup of the coffee into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Add 1 oz cognac, and 1 oz Kahlua, then place the lid on it and shake well until thoroughly chilled.

Take a glass filled with ice cubes, rim the glass with spiced sugar prepared earlier, and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Top the cocktail with a good amount of whipped cream, sprinkle some of that spiced sugar on top as the finishing touches, and enjoy your delicious Nightcap Iced Coffee!

Substitutions and Variations

When it comes to making nightcap iced coffee, there are a few ingredient substitutions and variations you can experiment with to make the recipe your own. Here are some ideas:

1. Swap out the alcohol: The original recipe calls for Kahlua and cognac, which add a touch of sweetness and depth of flavor. However, if you don’t have these on hand or prefer a different type of alcohol, feel free to switch things up! Irish whiskey, Baileys, vodka, or even a chocolate liqueur would be tasty options.

2. Experiment with spices: The recipe features cardamom and nutmeg for a warm and spicy touch. However, if you have other spices you love, go ahead and sprinkle them in! Cinnamon, ginger, or even a pinch of cayenne pepper could be interesting choices.

3. Vary the sweetener: The recipe suggests turbinado sugar for the spiced sugar rim, but brown sugar or maple syrup would also work well. You could also adjust the sweetness level by varying the amount of sweetened condensed milk used.

4. Try different coffee blends: The recipe calls for cold brew coffee, but you could use regular iced coffee instead for a stronger coffee flavor. You could also mix things up by using flavored coffees like hazelnut or vanilla beans.

5. Non-alcoholic options: While nightcap iced coffee is typically an alcoholic beverage meant to be enjoyed at night time as a nightcap, there are ways to make a non-alcoholic version of this drink! Simply substitute the alcohol with extra sweetened condensed milk and some whipped cream on top!

Remember that these are just suggestions – don’t be afraid to get creative and make this recipe your own!

One of the best things about this Nightcap Iced Coffee Recipe is that you can make it ahead of time and have it ready to enjoy whenever you want. Simply brew the coffee, mix the ingredients, and store the mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.

When you’re ready to serve, simply shake the mixture well and pour it over ice. You can also add some whipped cream or spices to enhance the flavor. This is a perfect option for those who are short on time, as it allows them to enjoy a delicious and refreshing iced coffee without having to worry about making it from scratch each time.

If you have any leftover Nightcap Iced Coffee, you can easily store it in the fridge for later use. Just make sure to transfer it to an airtight container or bottle before storing it away. When reheating, we suggest using either a microwave or stovetop method. Simply heat it up until it reaches your desired temperature and serve.

For added convenience, you could also freeze this coffee mixture into ice cubes and use them instead of regular ice cubes when serving. This will not only keep your drink cool but also preserve its flavor intact.

One last thing to note is that if you plan to store this recipe for longer periods—like a week or more—you should avoid using dairy-based creams or whipped cream as they may not reheat well. Instead, opt for non-dairy alternatives like coconut cream or almond milk-based whipped cream for better results.
